AARTA LUNCHEON MEETING MINUTES

WELCOME – CALL TO ORDER: Meg called the meeting to order at 11:35. She introduced the guests from IRTA.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Meg
PATRIOTIC SONG: Arlene started America
MOMENT OF SILENCE: Meg asked for a moment of silence in memory of Richard Albright, Nora Gurnik, Barb Muschler, and Jim Toynton.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: The minutes for the June 4th luncheon were approved.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Meg reported we have $2,394.16 in checking, $4,299.59 in 3-year membership, and $6,259.39 in life-time for a total of $12,953.14.
WELCOME OF NEW RETIREES: Kim and Kay introduced new members and gave them a gift. They were Mary Scheffler, Tamary Walls, Carol Fick, Patty Sampson, and Rebecca Campbell. In December they will introduce Kathleen Bermes and Teresa Towles.
IRTA OFFICERS SPEAK: Mike Schmidt, President, and Jessica Hoselton, Executive Director, spoke about the history of IRTA up through 2024. The first meeting was in 1915. We now have 40,492 members.
HAPPY BIRTHDAYS: Arlene introduced the birthdays for October and November. Each were given a necklace, candy, a cookie, and a pencil. There was a special gift for Jim Reiland who was the oldest of the group.
LUNCH: A delicious fall luncheon was served by Lincoln Inn.
DECEMBER CRAFT SHOW: Cheri asked members to contact her if they wanted to participate in the December craft show. She also spoke of the April Charity Raffle. She will gather items at the December and February luncheons. There will be 20 slots open.
A.S.C: Penny thanked members for their generous donations to the food pantries with diapers, wet wipes, and new baby attire. In December we will gather hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, and socks for CIS to distribute to the schools.
EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES:
Dick – Baseball games will continue to be part of the summer programs if members are interested in attending. They are fundraisers for the food pantries. Dick also explained the Turkey Trot. It is a 5K run/walk sponsored by East and West Aurora Schools. It will be November 23, and we have 1 entry if anyone is interested in contacting Dick.
Meg – Anyone may make a pie and donate it to the Senior Services Pie Auction.
Arlene – Sister Act will be at Drury Lane in November and December of 2025. Tickets are $45 with lunch costing $39. Arlene will purchase tickets and have more information in the future.
50/50 RAFFLE: Kim handed out money, free lunch cards, an AARTA t-shirt, an IRTA tote bag, clips and other supplies provided by IRTA, and 2 gift cards for 2 people each for a free brunch at Lincoln Inn.
PROGRAM: Several games of BINGO were played with cash prizes given away as prizes.
MOTION TO ADJOURN: The meeting was adjourned at 1:45.
