NOT A MEMBER OF IRTA - NOW IS THE TIME TO JOIN - THERE IS POWER & STRENGTH IN NUMBERS... JOIN TODAY TO HELP PROTECT WHAT WE WORKED FOR Remember - IRTA lead the fight in the Supreme Court to save our pensions & WON! IRTA works for US - they need our support! Go to: IRTAonline.org Group Activities SAVE THE DATE/S tba IRTA & AARTA NEED YOU
Why join your local retired teachers association and the Illinois Retired Teachers Assoc. (IRTA)... We need the help of all members! Our retired teachers’ organization needs to grow! Below are some points you can use when encouraging prospective members to join. 1. Your TRS defined benefit pension is your economic lifeline, the MAIN purpose of IRTA is to PROTECT it. Only 13 million workers of the 157 million now employed have a pension with a lifetime guaranteed annuity. 2. Teachers, public employees, and retirees have often been blamed in an effort to push the current fiscal crisis away from Illinois politicians. 3. The Corona virus pandemic has caused extreme strain upon the state’s fiscal stability. Retired teachers can expect increased attacks on our guaranteed pension. 4. IRTA/and local retired teacher units provides their members with vital information, guidance and direction about our pension. The dues are small when you consider the help that IRTA/EARTA provides to retirees. Things will not get better if retired teachers sit back and put their trust in Illinois politicians for a solution. More information about other benefits can be found at the Illinois Retired Teachers Association web page www.irtaonline.org ***Provided by ERTA AARTA SPIRITWARE Orders are now being taken for AARTA sweatshirts, long sleeve or short sleeve tee shirts--choice of logo. |
Congratulations to Cheri Sager, our 2023 unit honoree! Cheri was formally recognized at the IRTA Convention in October along with other unit honorees. Cheri serves as one of our reservation people, coordinates our volunteers for the food pantries, and created our first ever charity auction in April which raised $500 for the Salvation Army and was a lot of fun. Thanks, Cheri, for all you have done — and are doing — for AARTA! Volunteer Coordinator:
